We are so excited to bring you this podcast and explain why you need to be curious of this incredible new world that is coming our way. Do you wanna just introduce yourself Cheryl?

So I’m Cheryl Laidlaw, I’m a designer, a digital marketing strategist, an online curator, and a tech futurist helping business owners launch what they love through branding, web design.

And now this new digital universe. Do you want to go Angela?

Right. So I have been called a business futurist, a coach, a mentor, and an educator, but I’m just not a big fan of putting me in a box for the sake of a title. Simply, I just love to learn and I love to pass on what I have learned and this new thing I’m so excited about.

So just as a bit more of an introduction and we’ll do this really quickly, Cheryl and I have known each other for what? About 10 to 15 years. I think it is, isn’t it? Yeah. So it is why don’t you explain how we met?

Well, we met at a business networking club called Sister Snog, which we love who we absolutely love.

We love, we love and we attended breakfast and lunches and we would always learn about new technology. So it was only natural that Angela and I became friends as a result of our love for tech and social.

Yeah. And just learning, just learning straight off learning. Yeah, absolutely. So, yeah, maybe I dunno. How long ago it was about five years ago.

We, We started this accountability session that we would hold every Monday morning and we still do it to this day. Absolutely we do. And through this accountability, we have done courses together. We’ve come up with ideas. Sometimes we just have a good gossip, but we, we just learn things and give each other ideas.

And then, well, I dunno, maybe about six to nine months ago, we started to talk about. NFTs and the metaverse and all these things that surround it and started sending each other TikTok videos and, and all sorts. We just talked about it more and more and more and more and, well, this is why we’re doing this podcast, because we love it.

Absolutely. We realize that this world is very much a man’s world and not many women are involved right now. No. So we know and we wanna encourage and educate women particularly. And tell them that it’s not too late to get involved. And when you are not gonna be late to the party and more importantly, it sounds scary, but we promise you it’s not.

No. And I think the another thing to add to this also is it’s, it’s also very American. So even yesterday, yes, I was looking at something and they were doing a really interesting chat about NFTs. I could Twitter in Twitter spaces, but it was gonna be one o’clock in the morning in the UK. So I was like, well, I can’t really join in with that.

Can I. Yeah. So we wanted, you know, as Brit girls, we wanted to encourage more British women to be involved in this, but I’ve been doing some, a little bit of research that I showed Cheryl with this whole man’s world women’s world. And. I found a survey. Now, this is a US survey, but I think it probably would equate to the same in the UK or around the world.

And the survey was basically asking people if they were interested in the metaverse and they based it on four categories, which were, Very Interested, Not Very interested, and Not Interested At All. And there were some interesting facts that came out of it. So one of them was 18% of men said they are very interested in the metaverse compared to 7% of women.

So that’s under half over half. I mean, and then on the other end of the scale, it was 38% of men said they were not interested at all compared to 50% of women. So that’s a massive figure, a massive figure here where we massive. We are sat with 50% of women still saying they’re just not interested at all in something.

We have no control over it coming our way. And I think men are more interested in it because it really comes from a gaming perspective. Whereas, you know, that’s not something women are so interested in. I know there are, you know, women gamers, but it does tend to be a man’s world. So that’s really again why we wanted to kind of do this podcast and start to become, to encourage women to become more interested.

We did, we did. And we want it to come from a more of a personal point of view and a business point of view and how it can help your business grow because we do not want to be left behind. No, as we, as we know, Facebook recently changed its name to Meta. And if that’s not enough for us to sit up and pay attention, I don’t know what it is.

Yeah, exactly. Yeah. So, Angela, what are we going to be talking about in the future episodes?

So everything that surrounds this whole world, so the Metaverse hence the title NFTs. We will explain what they are, how you buy them, mint them, sell them and get into them Web 3.0 and exactly what that is.

Cryptocurrency. Although some people might roll their eyes at the moment. You can’t buy NFTs. If you don’t have cryptocurrency, crypto, what blockchain is AR VR, AI and everything that links because at the moment, these things, they’re all very, very different, but actually at the moment, You need all of them to be able to do it, to be able to enter the metaverse, to be able to buy NFTs, sell NFTs.

So each of the podcasts we’re gonna be talking about a different subject. A lot in great detail, but we’re also, we are gonna try and, you know, show you what interesting projects are out there. What other people are doing, introduce you to websites and different, exciting people. So there’s a lot to come over the, you know, over the coming weeks.
